Small classes, individual attention and affordable tuition make Alabama Southern the best place to begin your college career.
College tuition has skyrocketed in recent years, leaving many college graduates burdened with heavy debts. Students across the country are taking a second look at community colleges and seeing the great opportunities offered.
Alabama Southern offers everything that a big state school or a private college offers – except the high price tag. We bring leading edge technology into every classroom giving you hands-on experience with the same ground-breaking software and programs you'll find at your transfer university and on the job. We have more computers per student than any other college in Alabama, and we offer the best industrial technology labs in the state.
Our innovative approach to individualized learning helps our students succeed in the classroom – and in the workplace. We assess the individual learning style of all entering freshmen and create a learning portfolio for each student. The portfolio lets you know how you learn best and gives our faculty the tools to guide you to success.
Instructors at Alabama Southern enhance their outstanding academic qualifications with actual hands-on experience in their field of study. Courses are always taught by qualified instructors, not graduate students working their way through college. We maintain a small student-to-teacher ratio, so you will receive an education tailored to your needs instead of being lost in classes with 300 first-year students.
At Alabama Southern, students are our number one priority and we want to help you succeed in college. Our faculty advisors work closely with you to ensure your curriculum follows the requirements for your chosen major.
Alabama Southern offers 17 program options for Associate in Science degrees. Associate degrees take two years to complete and enable students to transfer to any four-year college as a junior with all core requirements fulfilled.
