Adult Basic Education Adult Basic Education classes are designed for students who are in need of basic instruction in reading, writing and mathematics.
GED Preparation Students enrolling in these classes will receive instruction in all areas that are tested on the GED tests. Instruction includes reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, science and literature and the arts.
Adult High School Diploma Alabama Southern Community College participates in the adult diploma program through local boards of education. An adult who is 18-years-old or older may receive high school credits for courses not completed duiring high school. Students 16 or 17 years of age may enroll in the program with the permission of the local superintendent. Persons enrolling in the program must first qualify on the basis of placement scores, and a high school transcript must be evaluated to determine diploma requirements.
High School Graduation Exam Review Students enroll in Alabama Southern's High School Graduation Review class to receive instruction that will help them to pass the appropriate high school exit exam needed to earn a high school diploma. Students must not be enrolled in high school and must have already earned the required credits.
Transitions Programs and services designed specifically to prepare learners to enter postsecondary, higher education, skills training programs, and workplace readiness programs. Instructors work with learners to develop goals and a comprehensive career plan. Efforts are made to assist learners with identifying the support services needed to be successful at Alabama Southern and beyond.
